Dr Chris Middleton

Gastroenterologist MBBS FRACP

Dr Middleton has nearly 30 years experience as a gastroenterologist. He completed his medical degree at University of Tasmania with internship and medical residencies at the Royal Hobart Hospital. His advanced training in gastroenterology was undertaken at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Concord Hospital in Sydney. He worked in the north and north-west of the state for many years before returning to Hobart in 2011. He is currently Director of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Skills and Expertise

Dr Middleton has a special interest in hepatobiliary medicine and ERCP and also possesses a broad range of endoscopic and interventional skills including complex polypectomy. Dr Middleton has visiting specialist accreditation at Royal Hobart Hospital, Hobart Private Hospital, and Calvary Hospital.

Dr Middleton’s extracurricular interests include music and aviation. He is married with two adult sons and became a proud grandfather for the first time recently.
