Dr Emma Mitchell

Rheumatologist MBBS, FRACP

Dr Emma Mitchell graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery in 2009. She trained in Rheumatology in Hobart and Melbourne, completing physician training in 2018. She has worked as a consultant in Rheumatology and General Medicine in Port Macquarie, NSW, returning to her home town of Hobart in 2021.

Emma is also a staff specialist in Rheumatology at the Royal Hobart Hospital. She has worked in rural South Africa during her junior doctor training, and completed a Master of Public Health specialising in International Health, through the University of Liverpool.

Skills and Expertise

Dr Mitchell enjoys all aspects of Rheumatology, including diagnosis and management of autoimmune rheumatic diseases and other musculoskeletal conditions. She has a particular interest in rheumatologic conditions associated with cancer immunotherapies, having undertaken research in this field during physician training. Emma is committed to providing quality Rheumatology care for rural and city patients alike, and enjoys teaching medical students and doctors in training.
