Dr Serena Parker
Rheumatologist MBBS FRACP
Dr Serena Parker was educated predominantly in Tasmania, completing her medical degree at the University of Tasmania. She worked for several years in Victoria whilst undertaking physician training at the Austin Hospital, and then specialised as a rheumatologist. She has also worked at the Alfred hospital and did her fellowship year at Christchurch Hospital in New Zealand. Dr Parker then returned to Tasmania and has worked within the public and private health systems.
Dr Parker has been a practising rheumatologist for over 10 years. She ceased private practice in 2010 at the Hobart Private Sessional suites and has focused on family duties in the past few years. In 2017 she returns to private practice part time and provides a much needed service to the community. She is also employed part time as a staff specialist in general medicine and rheumatology at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Skills and Expertise
Dr Parker is a general rheumatologist with a very down to earth manner and is especially keen to help educate her patients about their conditions so they can feel empowered to optimise personal health and lifestyle changes. Dr Parker aims to provide health care in partnership with her patients and their general practitioner.
